Sightseeing in Veliko Tarnovo

This is Eddie the Beagle reporting from his favourite bench in Veliko Tarnovo.  We visited this place in Central Bulgaria the other day without visiting anybody, just for a small holiday and to see the town.  It was very pretty.

We went for walks in the big park, where there was a big art gallery and a statue of some riders on horses.

And one day we visited an old fortress just outside the town.  In the middle there was a church with weird paintings inside.

Fun by the River

We went to visit our friend Stoyan in a small village called Dobri Dol near Parvomay in Central Bulgaria.  It was very close to the river so me and Stoyan and his two dogs Djungle and Krassi were playing in the water.

Most of the time we spent in his garden though, were I could romp around freely with Krassi.  Djungle was sometimes a bit grumpy with me.

Phew, Exhausted from Traveling

On this trip we seem to be somewhere different every few days.  After Tran we went to a place called Melnik in the Southwest of Bulgaria.  It's town famous for wine and rocks.  We went wandering around the streets whenever it wasn't raining.

One day we visited Philip in nearby Sandanski, who has a lot of animals which he showed us.

There were many more, but I liked the other dogs and the pigs best.

Busy Time in Tran

We visited our friend Dancho near the town of Tran in Western Bulgaria near the border to Serbia.  We had a busy few days with him!

We visited a gorgeous gorge, The Erma River Gorge, which was just a few hundred metres from his house.  There was a very rickety bridge over the river.

We went finding mushrooms

We helped bring the hay in for the goats

We went to a yoghurt museum, where Mrs. Yoghurt showed us around.

And the best part was when I was allowed to herd the goats back home from their pasture.  That was fun!  I just barked at them and they went home.  Dancho's mother said, I was good goat herd.

Camping with lots of people in Bulgaria

When we arrived in Bulgaria we went to a camp on the shores of Lake Batak in the Rhodopi Mountains with lots of people and other dogs.  It was called a Permaculture Convergence, and I was getting quite confused sometimes because there were so many people and some dogs that were nasty to me.  But I had some friends as well and my bestest friends were Negrud from Romania and her human Adela.  We are going to visit them soon!

Sometimes, when my human and I would get up early for a walk, the camp was nice and quiet.

But most of the time it was pretty hectic...
